Welcome to Go Fish Swim School!
I’m so happy you’re here. My name is Shaady Fakhrai, and I’ve spent over 22 years teaching both in public schools and in the pool. I have a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Maryland and have taught in FCPS, MCPS, and DCPS.
I offer semi-private, private, and group swimming lessons through my company, Go Fish Swim School. I also swim competitively on the Water Wizards Swim Team in Washington, D.C. — I live and breathe swimming, community, and education.

Lesson Structure & Trial Info
All new students must complete a trial lesson before enrolling. This helps me assess the swimmer’s level and place them in the best group.
Trial at Trinity or Turkey Thicket: $50
Trial at Waterside: $55
(Note: Waterside is more expensive because of a $15 per-student fee I pay to the gym.)
Trials are typically 30 minutes and may include other students. After the trial, I’ll provide feedback, placement suggestions, and goals for your swimmer. 24 hour cancelation window for new students and students
Age Groups & Lesson Duration
Ages 3–16: 30-minute lessons (unless otherwise specified)
Ages 0–3: Lessons held at my home pool in Eckington, typically mid-day on weekdays
Adults: Please reach out via email (separate info available)
i have group adult lessons led by Coach Gabriella on wednesdays at Trinity Pool and solos for adults, triathletes, and special events training by me by request.

Swimming Progress + Philosophy
Beginners (ages 0–4): Once a week is fine, but expect slower progress. The goal is to create a lifelong love of swimming, not rush technique.
Older Kids (6+): If progress plateaus, I’ll suggest a short break or extra help at home. A swim “season” followed by parent-led practice is ideal.
The more time in the water, the better—whether it’s vacation, hotel pools, or post-lesson practice!
